After two years in Virginia and two years in Boston, I am leaving for California and what I believe will be home. This blog is about my trip, which I am calling my sacred journey west. Inspired by Walt Whitman, Jack Kerouac, William Least Heat Moon, Leslie Marmon Silko, Natalie Merchant, Patty Griffin, and others, I will take the month of June to travel across the country on the backroads, stopping to see friends and family and exploring the America that doesn’t exist on interstates.
